I forgot my username / password to register for a course. How do I retrieve it?
If you’ve forgotten your username: On the Student Portal login screen, click "Forgot User Name" or "Forgot Password" and follow the instructions. 

What is my A Number?
Your A number is assigned by USU to access University services, such as Canvas or The A number and password is different than your account with Continuing Education. You can look up your A Number and set up your USU password here,  

How do I access Canvas
Canvas access to the courses you are registered for will be here and the login will be your A number and USU password.

What do I do if I need to change or correct my email address?
You will be able to change your email address after logging in to the Student Portal, select Name and Email and make corrections.

You can also update your preferred email address through USU Banner, under Personal Information.

How do I search for a course?
You can use Advanced Search Options (click “Search Again” or the magnifying glass icon in the top menu) to select search criteria including: 

  • Course Number
  • Course Category (Aviation, Computer Science, Social Work, etc.) 
  • Term (Fall 2023, etc.)
  • Subject Area
  • Instruction Method (Online, Hybrid, Classroom)
  • Instructor

When filtering by course availability, "Search scheduled courses" narrows your selections by courses available for registration. "Search all courses" expands your selections to courses not yet open or not available for registration. 

What happens after I get on a waiting list for a course I want?
When a space becomes available you will be automatically notified by the system via email and will then have 24 hours to enroll. 

How do I create a student account?

I have taken a USU CE course before. How do I access my student profile? 
If you have taken a course with us at least once since Summer 2022, you should already have an existing student profile. Follow these steps to access your student account: 

  • Visit the Student Portal and select Forgot Username
  • Enter the email address you have used for course registration in the past. Click Continue and your username will be emailed to you.
  • Revisit your Student Portal, and in the I have an account already area, select Forgot Password and enter your username
  • Check your email for a new message and follow the link to create a new password for your profile.
  • After creating a new password, log in to your student profile.

How do I register if someone else is paying my tuition and fees, such as an employer or agency?
Your instructor, employer, or agency should provide a discount code to waive fees. At checkout, select the "Apply a discount" box and enter the code. If you do not have the code, you may need to make a payment and request reimbursement from the employer or agency.

What is the difference between a drop and a withdrawal?
A drop is before anytime before a course begins when a refund may be applicable. Dropped courses will not appear on the student transcript. A withdrawal is after the course begins, but before the course ends. A withdrawal will be notated on the student transcript.

If I can no longer participate in my course, how can I drop or withdraw?
You can drop or withdraw from a class directly through the Student Portal. Go to "My Enrollment History" and click "Request Drop" (or "Request Withdraw") under "Actions" and "Status" for the appropriate course.

Can I receive a refund if I drop or withdraw from a course?
Payment of all course fees are required at the time of registration, unless being paid by a sponsorship. Refunded fees are applied to any unpaid debt on the student account. A full refund will be given up to 7 calendar days after the course start date. Refunded fees are applied to any unpaid debt on your student account. The remaining refund will be refunded to your credit card. After 30 days or more than 7 days after the course has been started no refunds will be given. Please note that a refund may take up to 5 business days to process.
